Thanks mcgyvr.
FYI, I have now loaded FW 0.97 412.01.
I am seeing additional parameters in the $$ dump, and am beginning to realize that $$ dumps a managed list of parameters which may, or may not, be ALL the parameters that are lurking about in tinyG and/or get reset by “defa=1”.If you like playing with parameter lists, take a look at
cmcgrath5035ModeratorHmmm, I have never executed a “defa=1” but have doe a lot of parameter checking and modification. I have a tinyG that is acting somewhat flaky, I’ll go try that.
Question for Alden/Riley – When a new FW image is loaded via the bootloader (using avrdude or tgFX or …), does tinyG come alive with “factory defaults”, or does one need to run “defa=1”?
cswiger – BTW, you will soon find there are a lot of varieties of stuff floating around. Usually best to prepend a post with at least:
– tinyG hardware version (e.g. older, v7, v8)
– tinyG FW (firmware version) (e.g FW 0.96 build 380.08 or perhaps FW 0.97 build 412.01)
– How you connect to tinyG (e.g. tgFX [what build?], Coolterm, putty, …)
Answers to even the most seeming simple questions might vary based on this (and other….) info.cmcgrath5035ModeratorSince you specify COM port, should we assume you are running some version of Windows?
Just curious – why are you connecting a Bluetooth dongle to tinyG?
I have seen not a statement that tinyG is capable of working with a USB connected Bluetooth, but then I have neither seen that it is not.Another thought – are you sure that the FTDI driver is available on your PC? TinyG uses a FTDI USB chip, I believe

cmcgrath5035ModeratorNo zoom yet on the toolpath window, but the X-Y display is sized to match your Xmax,Ymax settings in TinyG so make sure they are realistic or the toolpath will be REALLY tiny/hard to see.
Also, make sure you are drawing withing ToolPath range.Watch scroll window for ‘out of range’ error messages.

A few up front suggestions:
1. When you post here, identify your tgFX version and PC(Winxx, OSX, Linux) [which you did] plus your TinyG FW version.
2. Be ready to provide your TinyG config info, perhaps thru a Dropbox or similar. By this I mean the results from a $$ dump in Coolterm (or similar, I use PuTTY )
3. Be aware that there is a separate tgFX Forum thread now running, you need to watch both.Your experience navigating tgFX 2404 are similar to mine (WinXP32 and Win7_64) and RodeoClown’s how-to worked for me. Generally speaking, my toolpath display worked OK however, so that could be a tinyG config issue.
Since you are in experimental mode (spinning motor on the bench, a great way to get started), I would suggest you download and run with this tgFX Experimental Version
It is experimental, but you are experimenting anyway and you will find a lot of bugs fixed (including the Tab navigation).
I also suggest you read thru the long thread here
and others to get a flavor for what others are experiencing.
You will also see links to some test GCode files and expected results.I did a lot of my initial experimentation (where you are at) with motors connected and configured but disabled. For me, the tool path display did work under tgFX 2404 and still does for tgFX 3009, so getting that issue resolved should be high on your list.
Also, be aware that tinyG FW 0.96 build 380.08 has some identified issues and that a new version to be downloaded is pending soon.

cmcgrath5035Moderator330sc and Mcgyvr – Thanks for the runs.
I am fairly confident that the GCode is theoretically accurate, meaning that a Gcode to motion converter (such as TinyG) with infinite capabilities should be able to run it.
So the question is does this Gcode trigger a limitation in TinyG, does it trigger a bug or is this noise related.
I am still in the hunt.
Unfortunately, I bricked my TinyG today so no updates for a week or so.cmcgrath5035Moderator@330sc
Yes, Text looks good by the rounded ends on the frame rectangles all look to be trashed.
Is BobCad/CAM a simulator or ?. I am not familiar.cmcgrath5035Moderatorcmcgrath5035ModeratorFlux
I believe Alden and Riley both use Mac/OSX environment for development.
For sure, Riley’s tgFX work is OSX/Java.IIRC, programming the bootloader area requires the XMega to access a protected area, so unless you manage to bork the bootloader recovery would be possible. Search about a bit on Forum for bootloader, or wait for Alden to stop by.
cmcgrath5035ModeratorThanks for the hints, I’ll give both a try
I assume you realize you have to ‘close’ the ul tag with the \ul tag.
The ul button actually changes to \ul while you are entering/editing the URL.cmcgrath5035ModeratorYou might have a look at the responses in this old post
I have the same SSR sitting here, but have not tried to use it so have no first hand suggestions
cmcgrath5035ModeratorAlden, just to be clear, while I have personal issues with the WordPress tool, I think trying to use GitHub Issues as a Forum would be a bad idea – It seems suitable for code development level communication(e.g. bug reports and tracking), but not Forum, IMHO. There are much better Forum tools out there, but you guys only have so many cycles. I understand that there might be a prevue add-in, cannot say for sure how it gets implemented(I got that from searching the WordPress site). That would help a lot; again, my opinion.
And don’t get me wrong – I realize that at any stage of maturity of a family of products, there will be Master, EDGE and down right raw development going on. What I really meant to emphasize was that today Master is something, but tomorrow may be something else as new code flows. I think we would all be better served to focus on version (or version plus build) or perhaps a major release/minor release/ special identifier, or “version X.Y.Z”.
I agree with your comments on GitHub as a binary distribution tool as well; you may recall that I was one of many who tried to load an ASCII of tinyg.hex into my tinyG. GitHub is good because it can be well structured, but there is a learning curve for everyone. A well maintained Dropbox could work well in my opinion, what I am really suggesting is one place to go, GitHub OR DropBox (or some other managed folder where code and HotTips can easily be posted and maintained). Whatever you choose, it should be easy to embed a URL for a specific file in a Forum comment or suggestion.
And, can you please clairfy my question as to what tgfx_windows-x32 v.95 – build 2072.exe that is in Dropbox is? Is it the latest and greatest tgFX?
Thanks.
cmcgrath5035Moderatortomking505 – Your problems seem similar to what I had a couple months back. You might benefit from this thread
Note that I am programming from linux, and it appears to me you are running Windows, so your procedure for getting a correctly formatted binary will be different.
cmcgrath5035Moderatortomking505
Is this what you are looking for??
BTW, to get there, I opened the tinyg.h master URL you posted above, ten navigated upstream until I could switch to the edge branch.
If it works well for you, please report on what version it reports as and what you see as fixed.
