Thanks again. Yes, I was thinking the same thing, which is to do the air run with spindle on. I did, and I also turned on a big fan for cooling. It finished the job.
I am running 4 (I use 2 motors simultaneously on Y axes) 3A 270oz 1.8deg/step stepper motors. What else can I do? (other than slowing the job). Would cranking up the pots on motor drivers help or is that a bad idea? Do I need stronger motors? Or should I try some different micro stepping setting to get more strength? I am using 1/8 steps. Would I get more strength at 1/4 steps? But that would decrease my resolution, right? Sorry for so many questions, trying to figure this out.
Here is the link to a picture of my CNC machine.
periscopeMemberThanks for your response.
1) Yes I made some jobs before just fine and some choke and some didn’t.
2) When it chokes there are two red lights on TG board. No flashing.
3) Those blue bars in CP are completely full when it chokes so I do not know if that is an indication it cannot keep up with the job or something.
4) I run an air job on g-code that always chokes and it finished the air job just fine.Where does that leave us?
periscopeMemberCould you post an update on your progress on Mac OSX 10.9? I am trying to do the same as you do and am going through the same frustrations as you are describing. Were you able to get it run properly? Thanks in advance.
periscopeMemberThanks. It is actually at the slightly different path (on OSX 10.9):
Contents/Java/hardware/tools/avr/bin/avrdudeperiscopeMemberFor anyone this is the link to the latest version of avrdude:
http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/avrdudeDidn’t check yet Mac version on OSX 10.9. I just learned that one can update firmware to 435.10 from tgFX build 3625. However there is no tgFX build 3625 Mac binary to download as of this time. So I am kind of walking in circles here.
periscopeMemberAnyone?
periscopeMemberWhere to get avrdude? It is certainly not distributed with Arduino IDE as firmware update page suggests. I found somewhere avrdude version from 2003. Not sure if it is alright to use or not. Can someone suggest where to get up to date version of avrdude?
periscopeMemberAnyway, in my case it was a newbie mistake of selecting homing for both “Switch Mode Min” and “Switch Mode Max” in tgFX setup of Z axis. Just pick one.
periscopeMemberThanks for the reply. I have found meanwhile that in 0.97 there is already inclusion of soft limits. When I get bit more oriented I would like to give a hand. If there is a need for a graphic work or interface design, I’ll be glad to help. Also will write an entry about my setup experience.
periscopeMemberThat’s a valid input. However I do not see any response to. I am in the process of setting homing and limit switches and it is quite frustrating experience.
periscopeMemberAnyone? I am getting the same on my Z axes.
