MemberHi all,
I see that 440.13 has been posted. I will probably get a chance to do the update this evening. As I don’t have any prior experience with doing the updates, I will try the method that Riley just posted about.
Thanks
Jim
MemberThanks for the answer. That’s what I needed to know–I’ll wait for my bug fix to be rolled out into a pre-made hex file…
Thanks!
Jim
MemberSo your thought is that because of the items in 440.13 (I’m waiting for power management bug fixes), that it may soon be pushed up as some sort of “official” edge release and posted to the aforementioned download page.
Any feel for time frame? (days, weeks, month or more). Knowing as least a ballpark time frame will help me determine the “pain level” I will be willing to try compiling the build myself. Is TinyG easy to brick if I screw something up???

MemberOK, so if the Pi2 is having mixed results running the serial-port-json-server, then I am guessing that the Pi2 will have trouble running something like LinuxCNC then!
A forum meta question… I have “Notify me of follow-up replies via email” checked, but I don’t get the emails. I have checked my profile to make sure that I have the correct email address. Any thoughts?

MemberThanks for the reply. Yes, I am trying to be careful, which is why I switched to the TinyG forum. That said, I am a bit confused by your response (and I am not an electronics engineer so I am not that good at reading and understanding schematics). You said I will wire the switch between 3.3v and Gnd. Don’t I need to wire it between a limit input like xMin, xMax, etc. and the other to Gnd or 3.3v? If I just hook one leg of the switch to Gnd and the other to 3.3v how will TinyG know what limit has been hit?
Forgive my ignorance, but like I said, I am not an electronics engineer.

MemberOne other option for a kill switch (e-stop) may be using an unused limit switch.

I guess it partly depends on what you want to kill. The job, or the entire system. I am brand new to this and haven’t tried either solution yet.

MemberI agree, it would be great to mix-and-match switch types for this exact reason. Hope it gets implemented.

MemberHi Herby,
I can’t answer most of your questions, but I did get confirmation today that the two pin header next to the reset button is for an external reset button.
Hope that helps a bit.
Jim
MemberHA! I first read that as ‘no reset’! Not Normally-Open! Thanks for the info. I did find the schematic, but not being an electronics expert, I just wanted to make sure I read that correctly.
By the way, do you know what J16 (BOOT) is used for?
