As I suspected, there are now many Z axis configurations, many of which are not documented.
Good luck with calibration. In a few months you will appreciate how much you have already learned, be it by trial and error.

You mentioned you figured out your problem with the stepper making noise but not moving. How did you figure that problem out? What was the issue? Im back at this after a break.
