I purchased the GRBLShield/Seeeduino bundle recently and am trying to upgrade to grbl v0.8c.
I can't seem to flash the code to the Seeeduino using either avrdude on Linux nor with Xloader on Windows.
What settings should I be using to make this go?
Thanks.
twforeman,
Once grbl is on the Arduino, the arduino bootloader is not longer on the board. YOu will need an avr programmer to upgrade grbl. We use avr studio 4 or 6 to upgrade grbl on the seeeduinos. Avrdude works, but studio is faster.
Oh and we use the AVR-ISP MKII as our avr programmer.
We have instructions on how to flash grbl here:
https://github.com/synthetos/grblShield/wiki/Getting-grbl . There are other ways to do this. However this is the only way we support.

That was the consensus that I was reaching. Thanks for confirming.
Guess I need to get an AVR programmer then.

If you have an extra Arduino, you could use it to program the first one: http://arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/ArduinoISP

Another option is X Loader, which can flash grbl to a virgin Arduino.
The Seeeduino is not an Arduino R3 pinout, in spite of the fact that it looks like one. The power connector is different. See here:
