    Any solutions?

.Has this issue been solved yet? Im still waiting to hear back and was told to wait because i could do the fix myself instead of sending the board back for a replacement. Its been 6 days now since i have had any contact. I was told that there would be a write up before ril3y gets the boads to look at and i could test to see if it fixes the problem but ive herd nothing since.

prariehome – please try this procedure. I just ran it, it works but my tinyGV8 was in OK state before it ran, so not same as yours.

Please READ CAREFULLY – I had to tweak the process for it to run

((I am assuming you are running 64 bit windows of some sort and know how to manipulate files and folders))

[[If you are a MACOS user, there is a different zip for you. Follow this step by step as best you can (I don’t do MAC, can’t really help)]]

    1. Make sure SPJS is NOT running (reboot if necessary, check with Task Manager)
    2. Disconnect, then reconnect tinyG from USB port
    3. Download this file, MAKE SURE YOU GET VERSION 0.6.1

    4. Unzip the downloaded zip into a clean working directory, I’ll call it C:\users\ph\folder
5.Using file manager, navigate to folder
    C:\users\ph\folder\tinyG-updater-Windows64_0.6.1
    6. In that folder you should see 3 subfolders and 20 files, one of which is TinyG-Updater.exe
    7. Right click on TinyG-Updater.exe, choose Run as Administrator. Acknowledge to Windows that you are an intelligent human being and know what you are doing(I seriously dislike Windows, but I digress)
    8. The Window “/Synthetos TinyG Updater” should open
    9. Under 1.), choose to install version 440.20 .
If you tinyG is connected, 2.) should display the COMport
    10. BEFORE you click GO! — I find that the “Attempt automatic reset” does not reset tinyG, it may or may not for you. I recommend you hit the reset button on tinyG, then move you finger to the mouse and click Go!
    11. Observe the LEDs on tinyG – the “Boot Loader flash” should stop, then you should observe 20-30 seconds on multiple LED flashing activity.
    12. The procedure should complete with a Green verification success message.
    13. If success, please report
    14. If you still get verification fail again, please repeat steps 9-13 a second time

If you don’t succeed, please try to report the messaging and the step where you receive said message.

Thanks. I have been running a 32 bit windows. I started having this trouble and switched to my apple. I tried to download the updater and came up with verify failed. I tried it last week and again today. The verification failed comes toward the end of the download. Thanks

    All,

Did you try the new updater?

    Specifically these:

    https://github.com/synthetos/TinyG-Updater/releases/tag/v0.6.1

Also, you can try auto reset. However what I did was just click “reset” on the board then tried to hit ok to start flashing.

One of the broken boards I got in the mail had nothing wrong as far as I could tell. Everything looked right howerver the board was in bootloader mode. I think it was in this mode because there was not flash (aka tinyg.hex) on the board. I used the new updater from my mac and it totally worked.

The other board I got that was stuck in a bootloader loop has its lockbits set. I am not even sure how this could have happened as the customer says he does not have an MKII programmer. Either way please try out the new updaters.

If this does not work go here:

    Contact Us

In the message you write to us just reference this is a “bad flash” and we will respond and get you a new board asap!

prariehome – On my step 11. – did you observe an extended period of LED flashing, 20-25 seconds or so, before the verification failure?
That 25-30 seconds of flashing indicates the hex download and flashing porocess is actually happening.

Can I assume you hit the tinyG reset button? (step 9.)

Yes there was a extended period of LED flashing. The verification failure occurred at the end of the download. I will try tomorrow again and let you know.. Yes, I did hit the reset.
