I have been struggling all day to complete a project that should have been done in November. Just now, I issued a G0Z0, which should have raised the cutter two millimeters. Instead, as you can see below, it sent the cutter 167 mm in the -Y direction, putting a deep gash in an eight pound block of HDPE, and snapping the cutter.

Why does TinyG sometimes just take off on it’s own?

    Tom,

My reply to your previous post also applies.

There is nothing in your post that is applicable. You asked for:

    >What are you using to send gcode files? CoolTerm

    >Are you setting flow control? Yes

    >Since I think you are using coolterm to send files, did you follow this?

    Yes

    >What gcode files are you sending?

Not specific to any one set of gcode.

    >What firmware build number are you running?

As I have posted elsewhere, 380.06 and 380.08. You told me I should upgrade the firmware, but multiple posts about AVRdude not working have not been answered.

    >I had a similar problem with a PCB mill running a cheap Chinese spindle.

This happens occasionally when I send a file using CoolTerm, but then press cancel. As I have already explained in other posts, if I press “cancel”, and wait for all the commands in the buffer to stop, when I enter a new command (or just return) in the terminal window, TinyG does something bizarre, like launching the spindle in some random direction. This is not spindle noise.

So the post you directed me to does not address this problem, which I have explained in more detail in other posts.
