Yeh – I just changed the url to get 2.2.16 also. I don’t know how to verify the installed version either, I just reinstalled the 2.2.16 package – and now everything works.

Alden, you are right. I just installed the FTDI VCP driver v 2.2.16 and everything works. No need for line delays and I can feedhold now! A suggestion for the configuration page – mention to not use v2.2.17. Thanks for all the help!

what version of FTDI VCP driver are you using? I am using 2.2.17, but I just found 2.2.16 and may give it a try

success!!! in coolterm i changed the transmit options. I turned on “Use transmit line delay” and set it to 1000 ms. I am going to do a few more tests at lower line delays to see where it stops.

Thanks! I have a sherline mill. Yes – 25.4 thread per inch. (http://www.sherline.com/dimen.htm)

I tried changing the status report to 200ms, 300ms, and turning them off completely – but no change. It never makes it all the way through.

When sending gcode should I see both the d3 and d4 leds light up? is one for tx and the other for rx? d3 is the only one that lights up for me. it turns on and stays on constantly until everything stops.

I dont have ability to flash new firmware. I just tried a new experiment – I updated the gcode with faster feedrates, (100mm/min) to see how far it would get. It looks like it gets about a 1/4 through. Here is a screenshot of what happens when it stops:

what about not being able to do feedholds? is that an indication of a flow control issue?

update: just edited the gcode to increase the speeds to 100mm/min. Feedhold works but is very delayed. At the slow 0.1 feedrate feedholds dont work at all… or maybe they are working but would take a couple minutes to happen?

Ah ok, build 162 works for you so I won’t look for the old build. Looking forward to seeing how the 1mm/min feed rate works for you!

I did install the FTDI drivers, and I am using USB. Unsure why bluetooth is in there. Do you have a coolterm .stc config file that I could try? I will look for the 1.4.0b2 build 142 of coolterm now.

Thanks. Could it be a timing issue also? Have you run jobs that take over an hour to complete? This one takes so long because of the very low feed rate.

    Alden,

    Thanks for taking a look.

The project is in mm, sorry – I should have put a g21 in there.

    I don’t use the g43 offset.

The feed rates are slow in purpose. I’m using a 0.1mm endmill in brass (and eventually steel) so I need to go very slow in order to get a good finish and not snap the tool.

I am running TinyG build: 338.11

I don’t know what line # it stops on – but it’s roughly 1/4 of the way through. It cuts about a 1/4 of the teeth and then stops. I also can’t tell which line # it stops on because coolterm is crashing – the “sending text file” indicator never goes away and I have to force quit the application.

My guess is that it’s a flow control issue – the red light near the usb connector goes on immediately and never turns off, and never flashes tx/rx.

Thank you again for looking into this – I really appreciate it.

    Nick
