MemberHi folks and enthusiasts!
After countless days of thrilling anticipation my recently ordered TinyG finally arrived in Germany (32,06 € customs fee, directly forwarded from customs and paid via cash on delivery, so no troubles with customs, if anybody was wondering..)
Now comes my issue…there is a capacitor mounted to (yes, to) the feet of the SOIC Motor 2 driver. Could it be, that it has fallen down during pick&place operation?
So I was wondering, what would be an appropriate action? Should I try to desolder it myself and risk damaging the TinyG? I have the feeling, that a retour is not a real option since I belive it must be incredibly complicated with customs and everything, plus…you know….my Shapeoko told me, it wants that upgrade right now!
Phun aside…any ideas how to deal with this?
Picture attached shows the capacitor.Best regards

ModeratorIt took a bit of staring, but I did find it!
Yes, indeed it appears that the C29 chip cap is misplaced.
It is a 0.22uf bypass for a internal voltage on the U4 driver device,
but is now soldered to pins 7(and maybe 8) and 10 on U3.
Here is a link to the applicable schematicBest approach, connect with Synthetos via this URL
That interface will provide them with all the info needed and open a direct channel to customer service.

MemberThank you, cmcgrath!
Somehow I mixed up the community and the synthetos itself.
I contacted them and will keep the post updated, if the outcome is interesting enough.January 4, 2016 at 10:22 am #9236cmcgrath5035

MemberHi cmcgrath,
I have not heard anything so far. Is that because of the holidays or has the request somehow been lost?
Best
