Sorry if this is a dumb question, but help clarify the status of TinyG v9.

I have a couple of TinyG v8s and, of course, I want the latest and greatest.

The web store shows pictures of TinyG v7, then also says now shipping v8.
I have seen a video from September 2014 of Alden holding a new board that he says is v9.

    If I ordered a new board today,would I get a v9 or a v8.

Also, I know that there is a G2, which I understand is an Arduino shield.

    Thanks,
    James

tinyG2 is a port of the tinyG firmware to hardware platforms based on newer ARM based micro-controllers. Wandering the G2 WiKi might help:

G2 runs on the Arduino DUE, which has no drivers on board. G2 can be used with a Gshield for three driver applications and there are 4 driver shields available as well.

tinyGv9 is a 4 driver plus ARM uC hardware platform that at the moment is testing only. No availability date has been discussed.

If you want to ride the bleeding edge now, you are best off with a DUE and shield of your choice.

[…] can see that the TinyG V8 board has been out a little while now, there’s headway being made to V9, even some reports of them out for testing. I’m on the wall right now and really happy […]

  • Right now the v9’s in circulation were an early designed board. Right now the best way to get access to g2 is to use an Arduino DUE and load g2 onto it. We do not have a release date on the v9’s at the moment.
