After a weekend of fun, I was re-reading this Wiki item

In there, I find this statement:

Are you using Coolterm to send files? Are you using Xon/Xoff mode? It is enabled in both Coolterm and on TinyG ($ex)?

Is this correct for all tinyG FirmWare builds?

I believe tgFX transitioned to RTS/CTS , which has
    [ex] enable flow control 2 [0=off,1=XON/XOFF, 2=RTS/CTS]
    set in the configuration.

If possible, I try to avoid changes to configuration when switching between communications modes; it is too easy to miss one (or 2).

I have been using RTS/CTS with plink (a linux utility similar to CoolTerm) with what I think are OK results.

Of course I would not be rereading “Troubleshooting Wiki” if everything was OK.

I think this was posted before we used CTS/RTS for flow control. XON was the preferred method. That being said XON should work just fine as long as you set XON on both ends. Meaning TinyG $ex=1 and coolterm (or whatever).

I understand the time frame comment; it is what I expected.

Would you also say that RTS/CTS, properly configured at both ends, should work as well?
My evidence, using plink with RTS/CTS, would say yes.

Again, my objective is to not have to [remember to] change the tinyG config when I move back and forth between tinyG and plink/Coolterm, etc.
