I’ve been having LOTS of crashes with the app. Mostly when connecting/disconnecting. I have been submitting a few of the crash reports.
(java unhandled exceptions or something like that)Also the G28.2 button doesn’t seem to work (I only have X and Y axis on my machine) and when I press the button it shows a “seek” in the mode section but nothing happens and the app becomes totally unresponsive to the point I have to restart my tablet for it to come back. Even stopping the app and clearing the cache doesn’t bring it back.
But issuing a G28.2 x0y0 in the gcode command line works just fine.As for bugs/additions #1, #4 and #5 from above would be a priority for me.
Heck for #1 just having a Start AND a Stop button would be fine if you can’t workout the bug.. And of course addressing the connect/disconnect issues.I’d also LOVE to have the ability to “lock out” the machine/axis tabs to prevent “users” from messing with the settings. (an admin password to allow/activate those tabs would be perfect or something like that)
This is being used as an assembly machine in a factory and I just think some level of “security” is a good idea.I basically want my “users” to walk up to the machine, plug in their tablet to the USB, start the app, home the machine, load a file and run it..over and over again.
June 25, 2013 at 10:43 am #4233greyhound716MemberHi Mac,
I’m in the middle of another project right now, but I may have time to look at the crash stuff and the easier changes this week. If you send me a private note at stock@bexkat.com, I’ll send you a test apk.
-MattJuly 31, 2013 at 3:54 pm #4397greyhound716MemberJust a quick update for everyone. New version has been out on Google Play for about a week, major fixes and improvements since the last release. I need to put together a new demo video soon. In the meantime, try out the app and let me know what you think.
Thanks,
-MattJanuary 5, 2014 at 10:33 am #5127selekthaMemberHi,
First of all, thanks for a great projekt(even if mine isnt working right now .. )
facts about my CNC setup
– eShapeoko CNC, nema 23 motors
– TinyG v.7, fb 380.05, fv 0.960Facts Andoid setup
– Motorola Xoom mz601 EU 3G
– Android 4.0.4 original, Rooted
– Latest Android CNC from playstore. My problem is that It connects to my tinyG but then I cant send any data to it, if I connect with the FTDI UART Terminal app and push reset on the tinyG I can see the boot text(version etc) but it do not reacts on any commands I send to it.
If I use a terminal client on the Android tablet I can see in the messagelog when I connect the USB device(tinyG) so it seems to work, and none of the apps complains on the connection to the tinyG(if I disconnect the usb cable and try to connect with the tinyg Console app, I gett an error message that it cant find any tinyG device so it seems to like the connection…)
Any sugestions?
Do the app expects any special setings on the tinyG that I may have changed?Would love to control my eShapeoko with the app and not have to cary my computer with me inte the garage 🙂
January 5, 2014 at 2:24 pm #5128selekthaMemberOkey, I have got it to work altough in a limited way 🙂
It is quiate buggy to connect talk to my tablet, sometimes it works and ~60% of the times it do not work to connect …Now to a real question, are there a file size limit in this software? I am trying to read a ~1MB large gcode file produced in cambam and it starts to open the file and then goes black and hangs(can still see the android menues).
Would be super fun if I could get the connection stable and the possibility to load large gcode files so I can start producing som real work 🙂
Edit1: I have also tried to load a 350kB file, same results, anyone that have managed to load a cambam file or a makercam file?

May 23, 2014 at 12:52 pm #5951mcgyvrMemberMatt,
You still around? Does this app work on the newer versions of tinyg firmware..
I tried it on 412.01 and it said connected but nothing really happens.. No status/no polling of tinyg configurations,etc..May 24, 2014 at 11:57 pm #5955greyhound716MemberHey folks. A new job means that I’m not really active with this app anymore. That said, I would like to keep it functioning or possibly find someone else who is willing to maintain it.
I just tested 412.01 and the last version of the app from the google play store and it’s working fine for me on an ASUS Transformer TF300T running 4.2.1. If you are having problems, please email me at stock@bexkat.com with your tablet type, OS version, and the app debug log along with a description of the problem. Debugging can be enabled under “Settings” and generates a “tinyg-###.txt” file on your tablet’s storage.
If I can reproduce the problem I will update the code, but if anyone is interested in taking over and making enhancements, let me know.

I have had some success with getting my TinyG to run some code. I have loaded Android for PC on a old laptop and installed the TinyG app. It works well with little setup. My issue now is I do some text in inkscape and create the gcode in PyCam. When I load the Gcode into the TinyG app it will not start to run the code. To get it to run I delete the setup lines at the beginning of the file. eg:
;PYCAM-META-DATA: Filename: /home/dennis/CNC/InkScapeFiles/Welcome.svg
;PYCAM-META-DATA: Timestamp: 2015-02-27 14:34:12.211458
;PYCAM-META-DATA: Version: 0.5.1
;Estimated machine time: 26 minutes
;PYCAM_TOOLPATH_SETTINGS: START
;[Bounds]
;maxz = 0.0
;maxx = 295.88434
;maxy = 148.45884
;minx = -12.86374
;miny = 72.51676
;minz = 0.0
;
;[Tool]
;torus_radius = 0.25
;speed = 1000.0
;shape = SphericalCutter
;tool_radius = 0.5
;feedrate = 200.0
;
;[Process]
;engrave_offset = 0.0
;step_down = 1.0
;generator = EngraveCutter
;postprocessor = SimpleCutter
;overlap_percent = 0
;milling_style = conventional
;material_allowance = 0.0
;pocketing_type = none
;path_direction = x
;
;PYCAM_TOOLPATH_SETTINGS: ENDOnce I delete the above the app runs the code.
Is there formatting in there that is upsetting the start process?Cheers
DennisOctober 27, 2016 at 9:03 am #9986greyhound716MemberHi everyone. I’m resurfacing after a long gap with some renewed interest in TinyG and this app. I’m in the process of retrofitting one of the Chinese 40/60W laser cutters with TinyG. So far I’ve got most of the basics worked out, and just need to get an optoisolator set up to control the laser itself from the spindle controls.
In any event, I’m probably going to brush off the code for this app, and wanted to get some feedback on if it’s still of use, what problems people are facing, etc. I know we had some challenges about how to effectively buffer the input to the TinyG, and with changes in hardware on both Android and TinyG there were some issues with connectivity.

Sorry I can’t help..
I gave up on tinyg and moved on to other software/hardware and haven’t looked back as it did everything I needed, just plain worked right out of the box and hasn’t skipped a beat in 2 years running a few hours a day.. -
