I have a TinyG board A(v8) that I was using early on with my CNC. I was using chillipeppr and had difficulty getting reliable internet in my location. I switched to the g540, ESS, and Mach4.

Now I have a perfectly good TinyG and have been building a small PCB mill and have not started the electronics end of the project.

Can anyone suggest a way to use this board in my current project? Since I’ve only used it with chillipeppr, I have no idea how I can use the TinyG with local (none internet) software.

I would Start by looking at CNCJS, https://github.com/cncjs/cncjs/wiki
It is similar in some respects to Chilipeppr, but I don’t believe it has the PC board widgets that work well in Chilipeppr. At least not yet.

It runs on Node.js on local machine

I have been busy trying to get cncjs up and running. I have it installed on a lap top for now. I have found that it at least is aware (on some level) that the tinyG is out there because if I start cncjs without having the USB cable connected froms the laptop to the tinyG, the software runs a bit differently (can’t load gcode and there is nothing under the tinyG widget). With the cable connected, I can load gcode and see some new buttons on the tinyG portion of the widget, but still can’t do anything. I would be very happy to jog just to know that there is some meaningful communication going on, but don’t know how to make that happen. (all the jog controls are grayed-out)

Also, I don’t see any place to enter commands to try and move the axises.

Any help would be greatly appriciated. I know I am not always clear, so please ask me if this doesn’t make sense.
