    I plan to use these

    which are called inductive but I believe are really electrostatic (capacitive) as they trigger reliably when approaching an aluminum plate.
    But I seriously doubt they are anywhere near 0.001 reproducable.

    Tom,

    I can’t speak for repeatability, though I have found these switches to have very good digital capabilities (on/off). Given the mechanism, individual modification of the switch geometry may help with repeatability.

    I’m currently working on brackets to be used on the Sherline so I can adjust the switches to ensure accurate and repeatable action. Who ever gets done first should post up results!
