    Hi,

Unfortunately my grblshield can’t be placed somewhere where it can be easily reached. I need the reset button though to set zero.

Can this be done with a serial command as well? That would be a lot easier…

No.  That is not possible.  That is tied to the hardware reset.

I think there is a command in grbl that you can send. It’s control x (^x) . Try that.

Yeah, I saw that when I sent $ that there was the option ctrl+x, but how do you sent a ctrl over serial? I’m using GCode Sender.

You mention ^x, does the ^equal ctrl?

The ASCII code for control x (aka ctrl-x, ^x, CAN) is hexadecimal 18, 0x18. I don’t know how or if gcode sender sends this. You should read the documentation on grbl, as once you send a ctrl x there is an unlock you will need to do to get the system out of alarm mode.

Your other alternative is just to wire the reset button in parallel to some place more convenient to get at it. On the later versions of grblshield there is a 2 pin connector on the board you can solder in. In earlier version you need to attache directly to the switch.

@alden: Thx! I have the latest version of grblshield so I will look for that spot to solder in headers to connect a button.
