MemberHi – I have the shield and need installation instructions and the instructions @ cutting traces or whatever hack was involved with the first gen board. I lost the hard copy instructions that came with the shield.
The page on the wiki @ installing is completely bare. (???)
Please help.
Thanks.

MemberHere’s the grblshield wiki. It should point you in the right direction.

MemberThanks for the reply. Alas there is nothing on the wiki @ installing the hex file or the tweaks to the board that I recall from the hard copy instructions. The section on the wiki @ installing is blank.I emailed synthetos a few days ago and haven’t heard anything back.
Sigh…

MemberOh wait – Alden, I just saw that you are part of synthetos. Please help me out – there is nothing on the wiki @ installing etc. Here is the wiki link for installing:

…nothing there. A pdf of the hard copy instructions would be fine – upload to the site or email direct to skinnytod [at] gmail dot com.
tx!

MemberOK. Now I see your confusion. We never put installation instructions on the grblshield wiki because that’s a grbl project thing. Sorry for the blank page. I have edited the getting grbl page to reflect some status updates, and to point you to the official grbl site for installation, configuration, etc.

MemberThanks – I get the install part now. Last question: were there some user changes that needed to be made to the 1st gen board (cutting a trace or something)? I seem to recall that from the hard copy instructions that came with the board. Maybe I imagined it…

MemberThere are no user changes required on the v1 board
(which, by the way, is the only version in production – there is no second thing…)There was a note on the wiki about needing to remove a resistor if you didn’t want to configure the motor Enable line to be active LO, but this is unnecessary if you use the patched .HEX file, or (more recently) use the grbl 0.7 release from the grbl github edge branch. That wiki text has since been removed because it caused more confusion than it cured. You can ignore it in the hard copy instructions, too.
