My x and y builds are working but z stepper is not rotating — just oscillates a degree or two.
Have tried adjusting the pot but no change. What should I look for?
    Thanks!

What type of machine (ShapeOko, OX, homemade, etc)?
    Wiring connections good?
Can you manually move Z up and down by finger rotating the coupling? Reasonable effort or ‘tight’?
Maybe back off the set screws in coupling, see if motor steps freely.
Motor type (NEMA 17, 23, etc) Same motor as X and Y?
Maybe list your Z axis parameters and your Z motor parameters, or just all parameters with $$.
Could be Z velocity Max too high(and or Z jerk)

After some troubleshooting I found that the motor was defective.
Motor replaced and Z axis is working.

    Thanks for the report back.
On and off folks have similar questions as yours.
Was there something obvious, such as coil winding resistance, that was a definitve indicator?
Seems on some machines the motors become an integral part of the assembly and difficult to disengage from the drive mechanism.

    Happy CNCing!
