I have both a version 7 and a version 8 tinyG. The version 7 board stopped responding today. This has happened before and flashing the firmware has always fixed it. I grabbed a copy of firmware build 380.08 and reflashed the board. I was able to connect but found something strange. The board responds to $hv with hardware version 8.00.

Is this normal? Shouldn’t the firmware detect it is a v.7 board? Do I need a different firmware version for this board?

    Thanks.

You actually have to set the HV – there is no way for the SW to detect this. On the v7 type $hv=7 and it should be OK. It is important that the firmware know the correct version as the IO wiring is a bit different between the versions.
