If reset the shield to X0Y0Z0, and then issue “G0X5”, all three axis green lights light up, even though only the X axis actually moves. That seems wrong to me.

If I issue “G0Y5” or “G0Z5”, both the Y and Z axis LEDs light up. Again, that seems wrong.

    Any ideas?

What version of grbl are you running and from what source? Here’s the official source and our wiki page about getting grbl

0.7d, from the downloads at chamnit, per the wiki.

Has anyone had luck with the new 0.8a firmware from the merged github tree?

I’ve tried 0.8a and it seems fine. As far as the lights lighting, this is not unusual. As long as the axes you are diving r moving correctly (and the others are not doing anything they should npt be) this is OK.
