I was wondering that if the drivers on the TinyG board are 2.5a limit, then how does the Y axis on an OX style CNC work properly when motors are wired in parallel and both are 2.8a motors?? It would seem that they would be seriously under powered. Any suggestions? Maybe I am missing/not understanding something.
Missing something – no, you are not.
tinyG is predominately used for 4 motor (X, Y, Yr,Z) setups so each motor gets a driver.
Some folks move to using external drivers.
Most NEMA23s generate good torque at 1A or less(each).
But if you want your setup to have max drive capability, individual drivers and good thermal handling (heat sinks, fans) highly recommended.
