Hi everyone,
The Synthetos forum is back. After the old site was retired, we moved our community here, to GitHub Discussions, and you can read every thread on our own site at synthetos.com/forum.
How it works
- Read on synthetos.com. Every discussion posted here shows up at synthetos.com/forum within seconds. The pages are fast, searchable, and look like the rest of the site.
- Post here on GitHub. To ask a question or reply, use your GitHub account, either here or with the Ask a new question and Reply on GitHub buttons on the site. A free account is all you need.
- Questions go in Q&A. Mark the reply that solved your problem as the answer. It's shown on the site, and it helps the next person with the same problem.
- Show and tell is for machines and projects you've built with TinyG, gShield or g2core. Photos and videos welcome.
- Ideas is for feature requests and suggestions.
The old forum is still there
More than a decade of answers, from 2011 to 2025, lives on as a read-only archive at its original addresses: 1,197 topics and 5,860 replies. Old links from wikis, blog posts and search results still work. We removed the spam and duplicates and kept everything else as written. Search there first; your question may already have an answer.
Getting a good answer fast
When you ask for help, please include:
- your board (TinyG v8, gShield on Uno or Due, g2core board) and firmware version (
$fbor{fb:n}); - what you sent (the G-code or settings) and what happened, plus any error or status code;
- your sender (CNCjs, OpenPnP, ChiliPeppr, your own code) and your operating system;
- a photo of your wiring if it's an electrical problem.
A word on safety
These boards drive real machines. Before you test anything, make sure you have a hardwired emergency stop that cuts motor power, within reach, and keep your hands clear of moving parts. Software is never a substitute for an E-stop.
What's coming
We're working on new TinyG firmware and new tools for configuring and running your machine. We'll post updates in this category, so watch it (the Watch button at the top of the repo) if you'd like to hear about them first.
Thanks for sticking with TinyG all these years. We're glad to have you here.
