    G’Day Gang,
I am very interested in building a small cnc machine. I have salvaged a heap of steppers from large office type printer/copiers. They range in voltages and size but a lot of them are 24v DC 6 wire. Could I run these with the TinyG providing the motors are under the 2 odd amp current draw?

    Cheers

Pretty much any bipolar (4 wire) or unipolar (6 or 8 wire) motor that draws less than 2.5 amps will work.

The rated voltage is mostly irrelevant as the stepper driver regulates the current regardless of the supply voltage. People get confused when the motor ratings says something like “3.5 volts”, but that just refers to the draw if current isn’t regulated.

The quality of the motors – that’s the question – but you can experiment with that.

    Thanks for the rapid reply.
I have ordered a TinyG board so let the fun begin.
Can’t wait for it to arrive now.
    Cheers
