Hi folks, I am trying to get spindle and coolant outputs working on my v6. Is this currently possible? I have flashed the latest firmware as of today and I’ve spent some time going through the code and schematics but I can’t figure out if the outputs are supposed to be source or sink or get them to show me some type of output in either case.

If these work in v6, can someone tell me how they should be wired to produce an output?

    Thanks,

    Jason

    Jason,

Try setting the hardware version to the v6 board

    $hv=6

Thanks Alden, I do have it set to 6.

Can you tell me if the outputs are supposed to be source or sink?

When I run M4  I see the two LEDs nearest the 0 and 1 outputs turn on, but I don’t get a voltage on the outputs. M7 and M8 do not turn on any LEDs.

    Thanks,
    Jason

    [fb] firmware build 370.07

    [hv] hardware version 7.00

    I have the same issue:
M7 and M8 do not turn on any LEDs.

I found the problem. I also think it’s a v7 issue as well and is not limited to v6. The PWM/spindle code is not properly integrated and collides with the coolant bit. I will post an edge (and possibly master) push that fixes the issue. This should work for both v6 and v7.

I have a fix pushed to the edge branch as build 370.08  If you want to try it out and see what it does I’ll hold off pushing to master. You can use the tinyg.hex in either the default directory or the Debug dir. Either should work.

I found a new tinyg.hex file in Dev. It’s called 372.01, but it doesn’t look like a valid hex file??

It looks like the code change got pushed to the dev branch but I don’t see a new hex in any branch.

    From edge:

I tested M7 & M8 for LEDs on, but nothing. Same with M9.
    M3, M4 & M5 works as usual.

That’s about all I can test here.

OK. Back to the bench. Sorry for the inconvenience.

It was working on v6 and v7, so I just checked it again. Still works. Are you running a v7 board? The hardware version is set for V7. Also, which tinyg.hex did you use?

v7 23, just got it this week.

I just loaded it from edge
    [fb] firmware build 370.08

All I tried was to see if M7 & M8 turned on the coolant LED. It did not.

Weird. It’s working on mine. I wonder what’s different? If you send an email to the synthetos gmail dotcom address we can exchange info and get a chat or get online somehow and try to fix this.

I wasn’t the original poster, but just commented that my coolant LED was not turning on with M7 or M8 also.
FYI: I don’t have anything hooked up to the coolant pin, just floating I guess.

    Does this help any?

At this time, I don’t have any use for the coolant option, but willing to help troubleshoot.
Maybe if we can get others to test it…might help.
