I struggled until yesterday with SPJS 1.83 until upgrading successfully to 1.84 now.

Today I had a couple of successful wood cutting jobs, when suddenly in the middle of a job the motor driver (Motor 3) was shorted (followed by a bit of smoke and smell) and everything turned off. After reset the D2 power led and the D8 coolant led are lightning. The driver of Motor 3 as well as the CPU are getting hot.

SPJS is still recognizing the device on COM port 3 but there is no communication possible anymore. The board was always on an insulating underground why I can exclude any kind of external shortcutting.

    Motor 1 = x Axis
    Motor 2/3 = y Axis
    Motor 4 = z Axis

–> I don’t understand why especially one of those two y Axis drivers has blown up. why only one and not both then?

I found another article in the forum with a similar problem. Are there general problems with the TinyG Motor drivers? Did somebody have similar problems?

@Synthethos-Team: I’ve a tight timeline to get a couple of parts finished. What possibilities are there for replacement/exchange?

    Thanks,
    Matthias
