Recently MS rolled out a new FTDI driver with their optional updates.
Today I took the update and also made some other changes to my CNC laptop. Well to make a long story ‘short’, my laptop ‘froze’ everytime I tried to load a g-code file with CoolTerm.
I narrowed it down to the new USB driver and tried to roll-back the driver, but that didn’t help. I then did a system ‘restore’ just prior to the driver update and everything worked well. I’m running USB driver 2.8.24.0 4/10/2012 now.
When my laptop froze, it appeared from my CNC and CoolTerm it was either a buffer or a Xon/xoff issue, since my CNC got into about 2 minutes of the file. I have a clock icon with a second hand and my desktop just froze and I noticed by seeing the second hand stop.
The info on this new driver is:
1/18/2013 2.8.28.0 USB – other hardware – Serial Converter.
Has anybody else had this issue?
